I’ve replaced Lightbox. For a long time I’ve been trying to find something with the ease of use of Lightbox that incorporated automatic image resizing (like Shadowbox). I also needed it to display longer descriptions correctly, something Shadowbox has trouble with but Lightbox is good at. Shadowbox still has some neat features that I wish I could take advantage of like allowing you to drag a huge image around inside of the pop up frame. Fortunately that’s a relatively minor issue and those images can always just be set to open in the browser window to let the browser handle scrolling around supersized images.
The new tool I’m testing now is called Lightview Plus which allows you to integrate Lightview in to a Wordpress site. The plugin is free but Lightview isn’t, so please let me know if there are any issues with the new display method. If I decide to keep it long term then I intend to support the developer.
