Since I’ve been uploading more recent work I thought it was appropriate to post up the figure study work I originally shot from 2003-2005. This all began when a friend of mine from undergrad asked me to shoot her, at the time something I’d never done or really put much thought in to. We wound up shooting several times through 2005 before graduating. These represent both some experimentation and learning as well as execution of some ideas I had at the time. Looking back on them I have found some inspiration to continue working on similar style shoots with more of a focus on the abstract and taking the human context out of the photograph. The photos from these old sessions don’t really approach that idea well but at least one of them offers a glimpse at what I’d like to try to accomplish. I’ve come to feel that the human body would make a good addition to my existing collection of subjects which I have photographed with an emphasis on form, texture, color and light & shadow.
