This workshop was quite a bit different. A lot of people didn’t show up for it (tsk tsk!) and it was a bit more loosely structured than previous workshops.
Instead of being told to capture something to fit an assignment we were basically just given a street corner and told to go forth. We chose our corners by marking them on the maps so of course I chose a corner that I thought would be interesting. Then we were asked to hand our maps to the person to our right. Ahh! Suddenly I traded my great corner for the completely dead one John had selected (for me). I maintain that it was intentional.
I did manage to more or less complete the assignment but I am not sharing much from that particular portion of the day. The first two shots are from around my street corner but the second two are from the corner I had chosen, which subsequently was handed to Will. I’m still experimenting with this idea using my tilt-shifts that works in my head. I’m not sure if it’ll work out in reality, but I haven’t really been able to try it in an ideal location yet.
The poor little freezing dog is my favorite shot from the weekend. John, Will and myself all wound up walking right by them on the way back to the studio and the dog seemed like it was ready to get out of there and go somewhere warm.
