Waking up to a Saturday with weather most would consider miserable is sometimes exactly the sort of thing I need for a chance to go out and have some fun shooting. I left for the shore of Lake Ontario with grand ideas only to find that by the time I got there the weather went from perfect to a completely monotone sky without any texture. I took the opportunity to have some lunch before zipping off to Durand Eastman Park which seemed like the best place to mess around with some daytime long exposures and hopefully get some photos.
The strong wind and uncooperative sky tried my patience; I had to keep wiping drops off my lens and steady my tripod between shots so that the 50 or 60mph gusts didn’t blow it over. Ultimately I walked away with a few scenes I was pretty happy about, even a shot with a swan I almost walked right past without noticing. I wanted to hit the power plant near the lake west of town before heading home but the sky had again gone back to monotone gray (with no sign of it letting up) so I called it quits and headed home.
Between these and the few things I’ve been shooting the past couple days, I’ve finally had a chance to really get a feel for Photoshop CS5. The new interface trips me up occasionally but the tabbed system is really actually pretty fantastic! I’ll have more to say on CS5 later as that’s not the point of this post but so far it’s performed flawlessly and feels like a proper rethink of the aged layout in CS3.
