After many repeat suggestions of “sell prints you fool” I’ve finally decided to try something. For the time being I’m giving Etsy a shot. I know quite a few people who use and love it so why shouldn’t I? [...] Continue reading Weekend adventures – forgotten places in Rochester Nearly a month ago now (yikes!) I mentioned that I would be receiving some inherited camera gear. It arrived a few weeks ago but I only just got around to shooting it now, partly because I wanted to try a particular photographic technique for shooting the gear. A couple years ago Joe was trying a blackwater technique that produces some really nice reflections and is pretty spiffy for doing product shots. I am happy with what Smilebooks offered for the price. I still have their software installed however I’m looking to find something with a higher overall build quality, in particular with a stitched binding rather than just glue. [...] Continue reading Photobooks revisited I’ve replaced Lightbox. For a long time I’ve been trying to find something with the ease of use of Lightbox that incorporated automatic image resizing (like Shadowbox). I also needed it to display longer descriptions correctly, something Shadowbox has trouble with but Lightbox is good at. Shadowbox still has some neat features that I wish I could take advantage of like allowing you to drag a huge image around inside of the pop up frame. Some of my friends have inherited some interesting camera gear and apparently I’m about to receive my very own bag of mystery equipment. All I know is it is supposedly a small backpack filled with high end pre-digital photo gear. I’m curious what all that means since my interpretation of things could be a lot different from how a non-photographer would view things. If you click the image at the top of the right sidebar (just above where it says “Login” if you haven’t logged in) you can view this site with the colors filtered to simulate the various kinds of colorblindness. You can click the icon while viewing any page on this site and it will filter that page.
