After many repeat suggestions of “sell prints you fool” I’ve finally decided to try something. For the time being I’m giving Etsy a shot. I know quite a few people who use and love it so why shouldn’t I? Click on the “Buy Prints” link in the top navigation bar and you can be the lucky owner of this experimental first online print-for-sale. On another note, I can’t wait for color management in Flash to match what Firefox is doing to CSS colors. [...]

This weekend promises to be an interesting weekend in many ways. A number of people from around the area (and some Canadians) will be gathering together in Rochester to see various sites & places around Rochester. As always when I go out wandering, exploring or sight seeing, I’ll have some camera gear on me and I hope to come back with some neat shots to share! [...]

Nearly a month ago now (yikes!) I mentioned that I would be receiving some inherited camera gear. It arrived a few weeks ago but I only just got around to shooting it now, partly because I wanted to try a particular photographic technique for shooting the gear. A couple years ago Joe was trying a blackwater technique that produces some really nice reflections and is pretty spiffy for doing product shots. I wanted to do the same but I didn’t have any of the equipment to do it. [...]

I’ve been slowly working on putting together a book and I have been dragging my feet on it in part due to the fact that I’m not sure where to get it printed. I am happy with what Smilebooks offered for the price. I still have their software installed however I’m looking to find something with a higher overall build quality, in particular with a stitched binding rather than just glue. [...]

I’ve replaced Lightbox. For a long time I’ve been trying to find something with the ease of use of Lightbox that incorporated automatic image resizing (like Shadowbox). I also needed it to display longer descriptions correctly, something Shadowbox has trouble with but Lightbox is good at. Shadowbox still has some neat features that I wish I could take advantage of like allowing you to drag a huge image around inside of the pop up frame. [...]

Thanks to everyone who have supported this effort. It has come a long way since the beginning when there really wasn’t a solid direction or focus for the site. Even now it continues to be in flux and I have no idea where it will go, but I have good hopes. So thanks again for visiting and thanks to those who have given me feedback these past two years. Hopefully you’ll keep visiting as the site continues to grow and change! [...]

Some of my friends have inherited some interesting camera gear and apparently I’m about to receive my very own bag of mystery equipment. All I know is it is supposedly a small backpack filled with high end pre-digital photo gear. I’m curious what all that means since my interpretation of things could be a lot different from how a non-photographer would view things. An inventory and photos of the collection will come as soon as I have received it and had a chance to check it out. [...]

After learning about http://colorfilter.wickline.org/ I wanted to incorporate it in to this site. If you click the image at the top of the right sidebar (just above where it says “Login” if you haven’t logged in) you can view this site with the colors filtered to simulate the various kinds of colorblindness. You can click the icon while viewing any page on this site and it will filter that page. [...]

I adjusted a few settings pertaining to the new (but not so new now) theme… hopefully there won’t be any other hidden surprises or things that I broke during the transition. I also added a new “Learn Something” page accessible through the page link bar just below the site banner at the top of the site. It seems there may have been some hiccups with the RSS feeds recently, if that’s the case I apologize, it should be behaving now! [...]
