Once again, What the Duck is reading my mind. [...] Continue reading I just use P for Professional mode The modern camera does a lot to flatter its ancestors. From using the same lenses to being designed like traditional film cameras, we haven’t seen much departure from the tried and tested. In some cases that’s probably a pretty good thing, but in others it doesn’t hurt to look at what options the less restrictive digital camera’s innards allow. [...] Continue reading Rethinking camera ergonomics Since beginning this site I’ve always found it interesting to see what search queries drive some of the visitors to this site. [...] Continue reading The grass is always oranger. (Answering a search query) A Rochester “Crime Prevention Officer” has put the kibosh on the subway walk that Rochester Subway had been planning. It’s a good thing too, because otherwise we would have had a careful, respectful and organized group of people touring the subway’s length while it was still possible. Now there will just be more small groups exploring it, being reckless and causing mayhem. That’s definitely better. [...] Continue reading Upcoming Rochester Subway excursion shut down For those of you who constantly update your Facebook’s status, are you even aware you are doing it? Side note: I really need to work on finding a new way to structure the Galleries page. Since I’ve been using NextGen for most of the photo content, I’ve just worked with what it provides but it’s far from ideal. [...] Continue reading What the Duck seems to have noticed this about Facebook as well It’s hard to find a bag with the right combination of features. After using a variety of bags I know the type of bag I’ll use most often is a shoulder bag. If i want to look locally for bags it seems that Tamrac is the most common brand around. Of the three different stores I went to, they all sold Tamrac. [...] Continue reading The hunt for the right bag finally ends. Tenba wins! Sometimes something happens in the world of photography that I didn’t expect and it takes me by surprise. Some things are to be expected, like RED’s now year old announcements seeming to be vaporware, but some things pop up out of the blue. In the spirit of these moments and with the assumption that someone might read these thoughts and find them interesting, I will attempt to start a new type of post for this site. [...] Continue reading Surprises: Ricoh GXR edition This one got a good laugh out of me… if you still don’t follow WTD, it’s time you got started! [...] Continue reading What The Duck on boudoir photography Canon Canon caught some heat for the 15 megapixel G10 from a broad range of sources and justifiably so in my opinion. The sensor produced great detail as long as you were at low ISO but was severely limited in what it could do once the ISOs started creeping through the triple digits. [...] Continue reading When 10 is greater than 15… megapixels #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 0px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } I’ve always struggled with this particular image. I want to like it and make it work because the sky was incredible during that sunset and because it was a technically fun photo to take.
