Im still confused about how the 1 Series does its noise reduction. It seems like you can continue to shoot even during the NR, and then itll just pick up where it left off.
the Subway is a Rochester Icon, and I hope they dont fill it all in, but what can you do. I remember 10 years ago (sheesh its been that long!) when i walked the length just after midnight with PhotoHouse members of RIT.
hopefully by the time we get back up there, we'll still be able to make one more trip down its length.

Thanks! I really would have preferred better but I'm glad these came out as well as they did all things considered. I'm not sure when the next one will be, I'll have to talk to some people about that, but I sure hope to be there too.

I wonder if you could have expected your former workplace to look like it does now. Where was the service depot located in the building on Orchard? They've recently torn down what I believe was the shipping & receiving building (the single ground-floor section to the north of the main building).

That's really interesting, thanks for the comment and all the neat information! I really love hearing from you guys as the people who were there when this place was in its prime.

I hope the historical information I've gotten about these places is correct, otherwise some day someone is going to comment and say "no, that's not what happened!"

One wonders, Ray. Looking back I don't think I really learned the software so much as managed to cope with its inadequacies long enough to get a book finished. When the timing is better and I'm ready to work on the next book I am going to investigate what they can do with a layout designed in something like InDesign.

These photos bring back a flood of memories for me. I worked at the Orchard Street location as well as Stone Street and Kings Highway, which is not shown. I was there from 1981 thru 1985 before the company’s impending demise that was brought in part from the bifurcation of AT&T into the “Baby Bells”. I still see and stay in touch with a handful of people that cycled through Sykes during its hay day including those that left Sykes in a spinoff called Phoenix Telecom, which I was part of as well.
I have to laugh when I see photo 1 with the 3 heads of Engineering, which was part of an internal news letter. I took the photo and pasted the heads of the Three Stooges on the picture and it came out perfectly (it couldn’t have been better if I had Photoshop). It was meant only for a few of my friends as a joke, but I inadvertently left one of the copies in the copier machine and it was found and of course reproduced and filtered throughout the building; even making its way to the other facilities. A witch hunt ensued to find the culprit but my secret remained intact to this day except for a few trusted companions!
Thanks for bring this piece of nostalgia to all of us that reminisce of a time gone by and a simpler era. A pasting note … Chris LaRosa should know that D. Lester bought the Coke machine and used it as a beer dispenser for years. Don Zinter I worked for you over at the Kings Highway facility for a brief period before exiting with the Phoenix Telecom spinoff. I hope all is well …
